Warner Camp is 10 miles east of South Haven and just south of Heaven. Your feet touch the ground and you suddenly feel closer to God. It’s like there is a special anointing over this place. The fact that there is no electricity makes it even better, easier to let go and give things over to God.
Leaders have arrived and there is so much anticipation for what God will do in the lives of kids this week; and in our own lives too. Although the power has been knocked out, there is an electric current of excitement flowing in this group tonight.
We close out the night in the main lodge with our traditional candle light worship. The lack of electricity makes the darkness even darker. Just knowing we can’t turn lights on, even if we wanted to, somehow makes this candle light worship more special. Sincere, passionate voices are lifted up all around me…“Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me. Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me…” a beautiful song of surrender and hope. We feel firmly attached to the vine, and we expect the Gardener to bring fruit this week. Softy whispered prayers fill the room as 30 counselors and CIT’s reverently mingle, praying God’s anointing over each other.
What a beautiful beginning to a week at Warner Camp.
