being conscious

Okay, this is scary.  Have you ever zoned out while driving, and then realized you just went through a couple stop lights, but don’t remember actually being conscious of going through the stop lights?  Not only is this scary, it’s also a sad waste of time.  The rest of the way to work I decide to turn off my music, and just breathe.

Now it's midmorning.   Wednesday is always my busiest day of the week, typically a 14 hour work day.  I unglue myself from the computer screen, hit the pause button… and begin to breathe slowly.  My eyes close, my head tilts back, my breathing slows even more.  Deep longs breaths fill my lungs.  And deep lasting peace fills my soul.  I invite the Holy Spirit to fill me to the fullest measure.  A few minutes later I continue my work, refreshed, alive, and aware.
