bookends of God awareness

I have had four days now of starting and stopping my day in connection with God.  I actually approach my bookends of God awareness with anticipation; especially the morning time.  Do I enjoy it?  Yes!  I love God, and it's a great feeling to start my day connected with Him.  However, simply talking is tough; on one occasion I drift off to sleep again.   Maybe it will help if I open my eyes right away and keep them open while I pray?  Yes.  "Offer your body as a living sacrifice... this is your spiritual act of worhsip..." (Romans 12:1).  Just the simple act of lifting a hand toward heaven is a sign of surrender and helps me to give God my full focus, and stay awake.  I give the day over to God, I surrender myself to Him, and I pray over Candi.  This morning I pray for my kids.  I find that I feel refreshed and excited about the day.

Just wanted to be the first to comment here! I'm following along with these experiments and trying to put them into practice as well. It's tough! Prayer is definitely a discipline, something that must be worked at. I'm excited to be moving forward though. My relationship with God has been stagnant for too long.

Chris - I have not made it an every day occurance, but I do the same thing - raising both hands toward heaven while lying in bed, and talking with God.

Do you have a note that reminds you each morning? My typical morning is having my daugters wake me at 7:00 a.m. for a ride to school and I'm off and running! I think I'm going to paint scripture on my wall. It works for the mirror! We have pictures on our mirror to remind us to pray for certain people. Always works. This is cool Chris. I knew I loved you for some reason.
