Father/Son Camping Trip
July 8--14, 2017
Get outdoors… and turn off your iPod, smartphone, laptop, iPad, etc. and “disconnect” for a couple of days in the woods! Take this opportunity to “get away from it all” and to focus on your relationship with your son, grandson, or friend!
Enjoy seven days of canoeing, fishing, camping, travel, and fun with your son/grandson as a gathering of First Church men and boys head for the Upper Peninsula and the beautiful Sylvania Wilderness Area near the Wisconsin border. Over the last twenty years, men and boys have all enjoyed this great trip together.
We will leave on the church bus early morning on Saturday, July 8 and return the evening of Friday, July 14.
Cost for everything, except four travel meals, will be only $200/person. That includes some wonderful meals at camp--grilled steaks, barbequed chicken, brats, Zick Sticks, bacon, and sausage and much more--thanks to Gary Zick.
This year we are reserving three rustic camping sites on an inner lake for three nights. We will have a base camp at Katherine Lake like usual for a total of three nights, over the seven days. And we will adventure out as we travel by canoe from Clark into Loon Lake for three nights. That will allow us to fish Loon or other adjoining lakes, for even more overnight rustic fun.
Sign-up by putting half of the total ($100/person) in the “Registrations” mailbox at First Church or mail it to the church office (Attn: Father/Son Camping trip) no later than Sunday, May 7. Make checks payable to “First Church of God” Registrations are limited to the first 24 persons who sign-up.
Final payment can be made any time before June 4, to make the full $200. per person.
NOTE: This camping trip is during VBS week.
NOTE: Boys must be at least 10 years of age, be able to handle a canoe and be accompanied with a responsible parent or man. Reservations are limited, so sign-up early!
