DO SOMETHING! 2018 Prayer Guide
Help us in praying for Do Something this year in the weeks leading to the event.
Colossians 4: 5-6: “Conduct yourselves with wisdom towards outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech be with grace, seasoned, as it were, with salt, so that you may know how to respond to each person.” God of wisdom, thank you, that we can come to You when we need wisdom and You give it to us generously. Please give us wisdom in the way we conduct ourselves towards outsiders and give us your words to share with them…not to miss any opportunities You lay before us.
Romans 12: 9-11: “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; giving preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.” All-knowing God, You know our hearts and the hypocrisy in our hearts at times. Give us hearts more like Yours, to genuinely love and to put others interests before our own…to honor and respect each other, for we are brothers and sisters in You. And they will know we are Christians by our love!
Galatians 5: 22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness ,goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self- control; against such things there is no law.” Holy Spirit please fill us. Help us to walk in the Spirit that we don’t carry out the desires of the flesh, that our lives would be marked by the fruit of the Spirit.
1 John 5:14: “And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” Lord God our Provider, thank you that You will equip us with every- thing we need to accomplish the tasks You have for us and that we have each other to lean on when we need help. We ask for health, strength, wisdom, your guidance, and for any need that may arise. Thank you for being a God of detail and there is nothing too small to ask of You.
Colossians 4:2: “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving.” Father, give each one of us the desire to come to You in prayer, to purposely set time aside each day to sit in Your presence and connect with You in deeper intimacy. Thank you for desiring to comm- unicate with us…that we matter to You and that You delight for your children to come to you. Thank you for always being there for us!
Psalms 119: 105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light to my path.” Thank you for Your word Lord. Give us a greater desire for Your word Lord, that it would dwell richly in us and bring Your hope to those we are surrounded by.
1 Timothy 4:12: “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.” Father, thank you for our youth helping with DO SOMETHING! May they see your hand working in and through them and may this time impact them to be leaders for Your kingdom work. Bless them richly Lord!
Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Heavenly Father, direct us in the path we should go. Lead us to areas of service most effective for Your kingdom. Help us to trust in Your ways, not our own. Often You work in ways we don’t expect… may we embrace Your surprises!
Psalms 37:4: “Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.” Glorious Father, may we see Your beauty and delight in all You are and the love You have for us! May we not miss to delight in Your creation!
Psalms 37:5: “Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.” Lord, guide us not to do things in our own strength but to commit all things to you and trust that your ways are higher and better than ours.
Ephesians 3:20-21: “Now to Him who is able to do exceed- ingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.” Mighty God, please give us faith to believe that You can do more than we could ever imagine, that Your power within us can touch other people’s lives for Your kingdom.
Joshua 24:15: “…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Lord, every day you give us a choice to make. May we choose each day to serve You. It’s the best place to be!
Philippians 2:2: “Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” Father, unite us in spirit, mind, and love, so we can be of one purpose, to glorify You alone.
Philippians 1:6: “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Lord, thank you for the good work You have begun in us, that You don’t give up on us, but will perfect us in Your grace. May we place our confidence in You.
Matthew 25:40: “And the king will answer and say to them, ”Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.” God our King, some day we will stand before Your throne and You will remind us what we did for others we also did for You. May our service to others be pleasing to You. Continue to remind us not to overlook the people around us but to serve them in love.
Philippians 4: 6-7: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” God of peace, help no one to stress out over anything concerning DO SOMETHING. We ask that any last minute details would fall into place, that You would give us good weather and health to serve. Thank you, that all is in Your hands.
Philippians 4:8: “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.” Father, help us to think about these things and when negative thoughts enter our mind we would take them captive and make them obedient to Christ.
Ephesians 6:13-18: “Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.” God our Protector, thank you for equipping us with Your armor, for supplying all our needs. Help us to stand firm and put Your armor on before we go out. Thank you for being for us and with us!
Philippians 4:4: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say rejoice!” Father, You are our joy…fill us and let us be contagious for You!
Psalms 118:24: “This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” May the gift of serving continue to grow in our hearts even when our DO SOMETHING projects are completed. The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine on you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace. Go out with joy!
