find a dollar

Lots of errands to run today; and my first is at Family Dollar. Walking along the isle I look down, and there on the floor I find a dollar. It occurs to me that I’m at a Dollar Store; which makes me wonder what might have happened had I shopped at a place called The Fifty Dollar Store.

My next stop is the Post Office. A lady reaches awkwardly through her window attempting to load letters into the outside postal box. She loses her grip and helplessly watches her precious Christmas cards drop into a puddle of muddy water.

How sad is that? To work so hard doing something nice for people you care about, only to have it ruined in a moment. Life is strange that way. Wouldn’t you think God would bless you for doing something good and make it all work out nice? But no, God doesn’t always work the way we think He should. Christmas cards sometimes fall in the mud.

On those muddy water days we just have to cling to a passage like Romans 8:28, and look forward to the day when you find a dollar on the floor.

I'm honored that you were on the phone with me when you found that dollar. Hope we're talking on the phone when you walk into The Fifty Dollar Store.

I don't find dollars; I find pennies--everywhere! Hey, it's a penny I didn't have before I found it & they come in handy, too. Merry Christmas, Chris!
