Brian has a bunch of friends over for a bon fire. They’ve been outside for a couple hours, but now they are down stairs. Their laughter fills our home. I wonder what they are laughing about? Whatever it is, it’s a wonderful sound! God is present in silence and solitude, but also in loud laughter. Gratefulness wells up in me as I think about Brian’s friends. In our town tonight there are teens trying to have fun in destructive ways, but my son is experiencing pure joy and the fun of friendship. It’s another reminder to me that intimacy with God is experienced in community.
