jealous for me

The last time I felt this free to worship was 4 years ago in Honduras. We began as specatators, but soon were caught up in the pure expression of joy, spinning and leaping, with hands raised toward the sky. No one to impress or perform for, except God alone.

With Dan and the band pumping out "Undignified", and crazy middle school kids jumping and enjoying the moment, there is no thought of possibly offending someone with my exuberant expressions. Just live in the moment, and worship in freedom.

Then the mood changes as the next song is sung. Our thoughts turn to the incredible love God has for us. I am moved by 160 voices lifted in passionate worship. "He loves us, oh how He loves us, oh how He loves us, oh how He loves!"

"He is jealous for me"

That phrase hits me like never before. God, jealous for me?

Yes, I am jealous for you. Your attention is so often divided. Your desires waver between Me, and things the world offers. Yes, I am jealous for you. I desire to have your full attention. I desire to pour my love out on you, and for you to gladly recieve it and soak it in like dry ground receives a downpour of rain.

I do. I receive Your love. You have my full attention.

After being soaked and drenched in His love, I get up to speak, and I cannot hold back the tears. Because all I want is for these kids to know this love, to experience intimacy with their Abba Father.

What do I want? Not for you to do something, or change something, or accomplish something. What I want is you. Just you.

Hearts are opened. Old twine that held us back is broken, and new connections are made with a Father God who simply loves us. Our desire is to love You back, Lord. To do the hard things it takes to deepen our relationship with You.
