joyful dancing

Wednesday is a long day.  Everyone is gone from the Attic, except Jonah, Sara, Candi and I.  Jonah experiments on the drum set (pretending he is the drummer for U2 I think), while the rest of us clean up. Popcorn covers the carpet; we'll leave that for tomorrow.

D-Groups was so fun; I love these middle school kids. My talk tonight was about as basic as you can get,,, "Who is Jesus?"  Who would have thought we'd have a spontaneous Q&A time following.  These kids are hungry!  The highlight of the night for me was the worship. Hearing their passionate voices poured out in love for God was inspiring.

Tables are cleared, doors are locked, most lights are off, but Jonah is still jamming on the drums in the worship room. We all end up back there, drawn by his drum jam. This leads to a pretty wild couple of minutes of joyful dancing; sort of a Charlie Brown meets King David meets Dances with Wolves kind of thing. Who would have thought we had that kind of energy left. There is something very freeing about dancing for joy like that.

I highly recommend it.

We were pondering that same question on Sunday. "So who is Jesus to you anyway?" It was taken from the passage in Mark 8:27-33. Jesus asks the disciples "who do people say I am?" and then he asks them "who do you say I am?" Sometimes we, like Peter, are content to see Jesus from our human perspective rather than from God's perspective.
