It’s our Monday night tradition; Brian and I arrive at Ryan’s house to watch 24. We’re early, as usual. The door is locked; that’s a first. We’re well over an hour early, so that’s understandable. Brian stays in the truck to study Spanish. I take off for a “caminar” on Lion’s “la playa”. It’s a beautiful sunny, warm evening, so there are a lot of people on the beach, but no one by the water. There’s a 10 foot drop off right by the water, so my 5’8” frame is easily hidden as a walk along the waters edge deep in thought. Slow steps… Deep breaths… Yes, a whole half hour of unexpected pause. Lion’s beach is a bad spot for beach glass, but I still manage to discover a few good pieces. As each new piece is held in my hand a specific person to pray for comes to mind. What a refreshing time in God’s presence. Back at Ryan’s my friends are on the la playa playing around with a frisbee. Joining in, I continue to feel God's presence in the fun and laughter.
Lord, I'm so thankful for moments like this where my spirit feels so free, like a floating, soaring, perfectly thrown frisbee.
