LauraAs a little girl it was my dream to be a pastor. But as I grew older I lost sight of my dream and I drifted away from religion. When my mom suggested we go to a service at First Church, I was nervous but also excited.

As I walked into the church I felt a welcoming feeling among the people that greeted us. I felt at home before the service even started and everyone seemed happy to be there. I had never been to a church where the congregation was thoroughly excited to be there and to hear what the sermon was going to be about. I became overcome with emotion and started to cry because I was so spiritually moved by the sermon. Afterwards, I felt relieved and refreshed. I looked forward to returning. Every single sermon seemed to relate to my life and things that I was struggling with on a day-to-day basis.

Every single sermon seemed to relate to my life and things that I was struggling with on a day-to-day basis. One Sunday night I was encouraged by a friend to ask God to come into my life and to thank Him for giving His son Jesus to die on the cross so that I might have eternal life and happiness...

Without the inspiration of First Church and the encouragement of a friend, I would not be as close to God as I am today. I would still be wandering through life without knowing my purpose and how God wants to work through my life.
