WHAT IS MEMBERSHIP ALL ABOUT AT FIRST CHURCH?

We become members of First Church of God when we choose to turn our lives over to Jesus Christ, recognizing that when He died on the cross, He died for us! We believe that the natural process of living our lives sold out to Him and living for the things that matter to Him makes you a member of His church. Therefore, we do not have a formal membership, but rather a covenant relationship as a believer in Jesus at First Church.

The covenant relationship with First Church agrees that a person will serve in the ministry of the church by:

  • discovering gifts & talents
  • becoming equipped to serve in an area of ministry
  • developing a heart that wants to serve

And agreeing to support the church:

  • by attending regularly
  • living a life modeled after Jesus
  • by giving time, talents and tithe on a regular basis

In order to govern the business and legal affairs of First Church, there are qualifications to become a voting member. Anyone desiring to vote should:

  • be sixteen years of age or older
  • have made a decision to accept Jesus as Savior
  • consider First Church a church home and attend regularly for 3 months
  • attempt, in good conscience, to live daily according to the precepts and teachings of the church    and the General Assembly of the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana
  • sign a Believer's Covenant
