I’ve made a decision about my first experiment. I am going to make sure my first and last thought of each day goes to God. My first conscious thought as my hand retreats from the snooze button will be to connect with God. I don’t care what I concentrate on exactly, as long as my first thought is a focused intentional connection with God. I don’t care how long, significant, or spiritual this thought is; only that God is at the center of it. I won’t push play for the day until I pause.
I will also pause at the end my day, shutting off the whirlwind of thoughts to make a connection with God. I will unplug from everything else, and simply drift off to sleep holding God in my thoughts.
If my eventual goal is to live in constant connection and awareness of God, then this experiment is my first step towards that goal. I will start and end my day with intentional awareness, and maybe, in time, that awareness can spread to the section of my day that exists between play and stop.
