names

Two weeks ago, here at Warner Camp, we learned the 6 connections (eye contact, smile, greet, hand, name, ask).  Here I am, back at Warner Camp with a different group, putting the 6 connections into action.  I memorized the names of 30 people today!  For me, that’s miraculous, because I am usually pretty bad about remembering names.

Matt, Josh, Taylor, Keeley, Andrew, Derek, Ben, Brian, the other Ben, Gabe, Gabe 2, Tori, Sami, Brianna, Chloe, Korrine, Aaron, Mark, Morey, Max, Amanda, Dean, Laura, Garth, Jared, Charlie, the tall Charlie, Sam, Nate, Tim

It’s amazing how much more connected I feel with my new friends here just by knowing their names.  How do I feel when someone greets me by name?  I feel affirmed, known, and connected.  I want to give people that same feeling.

Now, if I remember to do the people prayer today, I can pray for each one by name when I see them.

Great job on memorization of the names! Its funny how I was just thinking about warner camp! How would love to get back there some day! Eye contact was never my strong suit but I think I am much better at it now! :-)

You cared enough to remember their names that says alot! I have been more aware lately and have introdued myself to people I don't know. I used to think why bother - am I worth knowing?!! I know better now!

I'm so glad God never forgets my name! So many times people will call me by name & my mind is an absolute blank as to who they are. Often I'll tell them I'm sorry, but they'll need to refresh my memory; other times I'll think of their name minutes or hours later. It makes me feel warm all over when I'm called by my name; whether that be Ma, Aunt, Becky, Mrs. Beach, or even Rebecca. I try to make it a point to say the name of the person to whom I'm speaking; it helps me focus & remember, & it makes them feel that I care about them.
