No Manual Provided!

So, today it was in the high 50's here, which felt like 70 when comparing it to the winter we have had.  Anyway, David and I decided we wanted to go down to Grand Mere beach just to walk a little and see what the lake looked like. Well, I had the brilliant idea that it was warm enough to take off my shoes and socks and roll up my pant legs and go down to the beach barefoot!  My husband wore his shoes...but, he grew up in Illinois and they wore shoes!  (Right about now all of you Michigan natives are shaking your head at me.  But, just remember I am a southern girl, and wearing shoes is a whole new concept to me! Ha! Ha!)  Well, by the time we got down the sand dune to the beach my feet were "pert near" frozen, AND just because it is 50 in town does not mean it is the same temperature by the lake. The lake looked much different than we expected.  There were huge chunks of ice floating along the beach and there was no way to tell where the beach ended and the icy water began. We "high tailed" it back up the dune to the car.  I guess we can just chalk this up to one more lesson learned as fairly new "Michiganders"! I am pretty sure they should provide you with a manual when you move here with a few little helpful hints and nuggets of valuable information like..."Never walk barefoot on the beach in March"!  I'll let you know when my feet thaw out...as I write they are propped up next to the heater!  I hope you have had a good laugh at my expense!  You know, laughter does a body good...God said so!

That is pretty funny!! When I was a kid living in Michigan, a buddy of mine and myself use to try to be the first one's to swim in the lake every year! It was refreshing to say the least!!! You brought back some old memories there!!!
