I’m up early this morning to run on the hotel tread mill. I’ve got the workout room to myself right now. After a 10 minute warm up, I pick up the pace. My breathing becomes more labored… hey, my breathing… (light goes on) I recall Rob Bells teaching. I’m breathing… breathing hard. I’m sucking in sweet air as deeply and quickly as possible to relieve my muscles of the toxins produced by the work they are performing. Each breath brings in oxygen to feed my muscles, and every time I exhale my body is cleansed. The spiritual analogy does not escape me. With every inhale and exhale, something spiritual is happening within me. I’m not just breathing hard… I’m speaking the name of God… loudly!
