This is a picture of my little niece, Eden, last summer at the beach. She was watching the Seagulls fly overhead, and found them quite interesting. Watching the world through the eyes of a small child can be so refreshing. All of a sudden the simple, becomes the profound. And the things in life that we often overlook like seagulls at the beach, ants on the sidewalk, and the shape of white puffy clouds in the big blue sky can take on a new importance. Why is it that the complexity of life keeps us from simplicity? Why is that busyness keeps us from stillness? Why is it that success keeps us from success? (And, no that is not a typo!) Success is so different when viewed through the eyes of a hardened, goal oriented, human being doing life on their own. Because true success is found when life is viewed through the eyes of a softened, love oriented, child of God doing life with Him in control. True success is measured in moments like this day we had on the beach as a family enjoying the "little things". Being with Eden, when we get a chance to all be together, is a gentle reminder that even as my children grow up I must teach them to still enjoy the blessings that God gives us in the tiniest of things. Ask the father to give you a clear vision of where He is, what He is up to, and how much He loves you as you walk through even the most ordinary of days! You never know when the ordinary will become the "extraordinary"!
