riley and sydney

After 11 hours of sleep last night, I’ve made my return to real life.  It’s fun to get some facebook messages from camp kids.  Riley tells me he is writing PC on his hand.  I decide to try it too.  Now I’m mowing the lawn (which got quite long while I was at camp), and as I reach down to pull the starter rope I notice the PC on my hand.  So I pause to pray, and try to pray continuously while doing the lawn.

Later, a facebook from Sydney.  Wow, she took what she learned at camp and adapted her own creative idea; she has written “PRAY” on index cards and put them in places she’ll notice them often (mirror, piano, computer, bedroom door…).  YES!  What an awesome idea.  I love that she has personalized her plan for making space for God in her life.   So inspiring!  That’s what PAUSE is about… not some cookie cutter approach to spiritual disciplines, but a sharing of ideas and experiences so that we can inspire each other to pursue God in our own way!  Go Sydney!

So what are you doing lately to make space for God in your life?

Hey Chris I write today July 4th and I wanna make a comment about what I am doing today. In the past I have been witting PC on my hand from time to time but it always washes off... so today I want to keep it on me to remind me that my time with God should be put on my heart then washed off and having an on and off relationship with him. I want one that is continuous. So today I'm going to Touch of Color in St. Joe to get a tattoo of PC, so I will be constantly be reminded of that. I want a deeper prayer life with GOD!

Got up this morning for a quiet time but got distracted looking out the window. What a beautiful morning!! Looking at my neighbor's houses, I am reminded that Jo is dieing of cancer, so I pray for her. When was the last time I actually prayed instead of just thinking about her? And two more elderly women -- they must be lonely -- so I actually pray for them. Think I'll go visit one today. Prayer has a way of connecting us, doesn't it. And the single mom struggling one her own, the neighbor with a broken foot, the family who seems to have it all together...I could sit there all morning just looking and praying. Thanks for the reminder that we are not called to be cookie-cutter Christians, but to love one another.

Wow, I am so blessed by these comments from both of you. Thanks so much for sharing. It's inspiring to hear how God is speaking to you, how you are listening, and what you are doing about it! Very cool.
