Snow Day!

On Friday we woke to a blanket of freshly fallen snow.  Our first snow day!  And, in November no less!  The muddy, brown earth covered in decaying Fall leaves, drab and colorless, was now covered with pure white snow. As I stood looking out my window at the new picture that had been painted on the landscape overnight I thought about the verse in Isaiah 1:18. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool."

I wonder what my life must have looked like from the inside before Christ?  What if we were to rewind time and in a spectrum of colors we were to paint a picture of every envious thought, every lie, every angry word, every awful little deed done out of rebellion to a Holy God?  Would it be a drab, muddy mess much like my front yard was only hours ago? At that moment looking out my window I saw a piece of art straight from the Omnipotent.  The title of this particular piece of art was..."GRACE"!  There before my eyes was a reminder of the grace of God!  What I mean by this is...one minute we are "dirty" from the sins that have so easily entangled us and because of His unbelievable grace, in an instant we can be as white as snow.  A fresh canvas!  A new creation!  What a moment!

I found myself yearning to give thanks to my precious Heavenly Father, who out of great sacrifice gave the greatest gift of all...salvation!  This Thanksgiving my prayer for you is that you would find the time to give thanks for the grace that was given to you through salvation.  I pray also that if you are reading this and you have not accepted this gift that you would accept His grace today so that on Thanksgiving you would have a NEW reason to give thanks!  Breath deep the winter air, stop and watch the snow as it falls and be reminded that God's mercy is new every day, and His grace is sufficient for you yesterday, today, and tomorrow!  Happy Thanksgiving!
