It’s just after noon, and my flight is scheduled to leave at 1:10. Through the window I’m witnessing a whirlwind of movement; a dozen planes in motion. Some taxi for takeoff, others approach for landing, and others soar high into the sky. One bolt of lightning brings it all to a halt. A dozen plans are frozen in place, their power to move stolen by a storm. It’s an eerie sight to see so much frantic movement suddenly stilled. Planes and plans are put on pause.
I remember avoiding a train last week, an interruption that could have inspired and energized me, if I had let it. Lord, I trust you have a blessing for me disguised as a delay. What would you have me do with this unexpected extra time? A nap? A book? A conversation with a stranger? All are good options. A nap, if needed, is no waste of time. And how many times have I wished for more opportunities to read? Now I have it. How will I invest this gift I’ve been given? I’m open and expectant to see what’s in store!
