Today is my space for Jesus. Sleep deprivation begins to take its toll, but the joy of camp makes up for lack of sleep! The morning begins with climbing the wall, continues with the mud pit, and now it’s our time in the Tabernacle. We learn about three cups tonight.
The first is the coffee cup. We want a cozy coffee cup life, but it’s empty; there’s an empty space in our hearts that we were born with. We try to fill that space with so many things, but nothing seems to fit or fill that empty hole in the heart. What are we trying to fill that space with?
The second cup is the cup of God’s wrath; God’s commitment to destroy sin. The story of the boy who steps in a bee hive and his angry mother swats him over and over. At first the boy thinks his mom is angry at him, but she is only trying to save him. That’s God’s cup of wrath that He unleashes on sin. Jesus offers to drink this cup for us. Amazing. He loves us so much.
The third cup is the cup of communion, the one he offers us to drink. His living water is the only drink that truly fills the empty space in our hearts. How beautiful it is to worship tonight and receive communion and drink the cup of Christ. Our empty space is filled!
