Born and raised in the town of Elkhart, Kansas, Tammie first
felt a tug towards missions at the age of ten while listening to
the stories of missionaries at church. The desire to tell people of
other cultures about Christ continued to grow until she took her first
missions trip to Papua New Guinea, an island above Australia, at the age of seventeen. The two months spent in New Guinea solidified
her calling to missionary service.
Tammie earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees at Anderson University and continued mission work throughout her education. In August
1997, Tammie was sent to Kenya, East Africa, by Global Missions to
teach at Kima International School of Theology, where she taught
students from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Sudan.
She taught theology classes, various Bible classes, pastoral ministries
classes, missions classes, and general education classes. In addition,
she served as the director of the computer center and ministered
extensively in rural areas of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Tammie was ordained as a minister in the Church of God in July 1999 and became the academic dean of Kima International School of Theology
in January 2002. After spending seven years in ministry in
Kenya training pastors, Tammie left Kenya in August 2004.
In June 2005, Tammie moved to Lusaka, Zambia, where she developed a
very pastoral training program for the Church of God in the
region. In January of 2008, she moved the pastoral training
program to the Malawi area to further train pastors.
