wash over me

Finally! It's good to be back on the beach. And after those huge weekend waves, maybe there will be some glass today.

There is.

Father, it is so good to meet You here; to pour out everything that comes to mind. My prayers come in waves, and Your response does too, crashing over me. The words to the song are very real to me... "Wash over me, wash over me..."   That is my prayer.  "Wash over me. wash over me.."

I have missed time like this on the beach.

p.s. 452 pieces of beach glass this morning.

I put it in a huge jar and just stare at it.

I also make cool stuff with it, like Christmas ornaments and stuff.

I think you get more pleasure out of counting your beach glass than actually finding it. :)

Thats not true. It's tedious to count, but a joy to find.

However, I do like leaving it on the kitchen counter after I count it, providing proof that I am a great hunter.

Had an amazing time of worship with Sara on the beach hunting glass. There always seems to be a theme for us, and what kept happening is we would get really excited about the BIG, colorful pieces, and not so much about the little, white chips. I mean, you have to whoop-whoop over a big bluey, but we were silently slipping the uneventfuls in our pockets without as much as a peep. Then guilt set in for both of us.

The verse that came to mind was 1 Tim. 4:12 which says, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young," (or small). So, needless to say, we rejoiced over the little ones, knowing that in God's eyes, all are significant, because He created them. Hmmm. Good message. So am I surprised that at exactly the same moment, I mean the exact moment, we both spotted the biggest piece of beach glass ever? Sheer delight. And 74 pieces for me, 50-some for Sara, and two plastic army guys later, we walked off the beach with pockets full and hearts fully delighted by our God. That was one good worship service.

It never ceases to amaze me how many lessons are learned while walking the beach hunting glass. Very cool. I assume the big piece you are referring to is the famed brown clorox piece. Can't wait to see it in person.

Reading what you wrote makes me think of the middle school kids that I know and love. Many people write them off as hyper little kids with nothing to offer until they grow up. To me, these kids, these little white pieces of glass, are incredibly beautiful, and full of potential to impact their world in amazing ways. I get to meet with them again tomorrow for D-Groups!

Thanks for commenting Cristi

ps Don't let Cameron get ahold of your army men. I believe that burning army men is a rite of passage for boys.
