I am getting reacquainted with an old friend this morning… Frank Laubach. I read a collection of his journal entries back when I was in college. What I long for with God is what Frank Laubach seemed to have achieved. As I sit here reading excerpts from his journal I am encouraged to continue on this path. I am certain this devotional reading is a gift from God today just for me. I find this entry especially encouraging…
“January 26, 1930 For the past few days I have been experimenting in a more complete surrender than ever before. I am taking by deliberate act of will, enough time from each hour to give God much thought. I am feeling God in each movement, willing that he shall direct these fingers that now strike this typewriter, willing that He shall pour through my steps as I walk, willing that He shall direct my words as I speak, and my very jaws as I eat.”
I'm sure that Frank Laubach did not achieve this approach to life in a day; it must have taken time. Lord, may this man's example inspire me, and not overwhelm me. Please give me persistance, and at the same time patience.
